Pollinate Labs Wins 4700BC Rebrand — Gourmet Snacking Brand Scales Past Popcorn

~ Mumbai design house Pollinate Labs takes strategic repositioning, identity, packaging and gifting for 4700BC as the Marico-backed brand pushes beyond snack aisles ~
Mumbai, September 2026: Pollinate Labs, the Mumbai-based design house, has won the strategic repositioning and rebranding mandate for 4700BC — the premium snacking brand that pioneered gourmet popcorn in India and is now stretching into a wider brand world after Marico Limited took a majority stake earlier this year.
The brief spans brand repositioning, visual identity, packaging architecture and the broader brand system. Pollinate will also help 4700BC build gifting as a strategic growth vertical — a clear signal that the brand wants occasions and occasions-plus, not just another SKU run in snacks.
Founded in 2013 by Chirag Gupta, 4700BC has grown from gourmet popcorn into a portfolio spanning popcorn, popped chips, makhana, crunchy corn and nachos. The next chapter is about categories, occasions and consumer cohorts beyond the original snacking proposition — without sanding off the experimentation, irreverence and flavour-led character that made the brand stick.
Chirag Gupta, Founder, 4700BC, said: “4700BC has always been about changing the way India thinks about snacking. As we enter this next chapter, our ambition is significantly larger, both in terms of the categories we can play in and the consumers we can reach. As we work towards building 4700BC into a brand that goes beyond snacking, we need the brand itself to be ready for that scale. We wanted a partner who could help us evolve without losing the spirit that made 4700BC distinctive in the first place. Pollinate understood that balance, and we’re excited about what we are building together.”
Siddharth Khandelwal, Co-Founder, Pollinate Labs, said: “4700BC is one of those rare Indian brands that didn’t simply enter a category. It helped create one. And that makes what comes next particularly exciting. The ambition fundamentally changes the design question. This isn’t simply about what 4700BC should look like next. It is about building a brand system capable of supporting that scale of business. It will need to confidently and effortlessly move into new categories, occasions and consumer cohorts without losing what made people fall in love with it in the first place.”
Khandelwal added that Pollinate’s job is to identify what is inherently ownable about 4700BC and amplify it — from positioning and identity to packaging, gifting and launch — so the brand can stretch further while remaining unmistakably itself.
Marketing take: Post-acquisition rebrands fail when they polish the logo and lose the attitude. Pollinate’s brief for 4700BC is the harder one — keep the irreverence that built gourmet snacking equity, then stretch it into packaging, gifting and new occasions before the category catches up.
