Himalaya Koflet turns a cough's unwanted spotlight into strategy

Himalaya Wellness Company has roped in Social Panga for a new campaign on its Koflet cough range. Rather than leading with ingredients or general efficacy, the films bring alive a familiar social moment: the instant a cough puts someone in the spotlight.

The creative platform is captured in the question, “Khaansi ki attention se ho gayi na tension?” and the answer, “Honey aur Herbs ka Fusion, Khaansi ka Asardar Solution.” The campaign comprises two short films that link each product format to a distinct use occasion.

01 · Two products, two specific moments

The first film is set in a meeting. A sudden cough moves attention away from the boss and towards the person coughing. The film then introduces Koflet-H Lozenges as the easy, portable option for people who need relief while they are out and about.

The second film shifts to a home. A father’s cough wakes his sleeping baby, turning a quiet moment into one of stress. There, Koflet Syrup is presented as the at-home solution.

02 · Why this matters for OTC marketing

Cough relief is a need-driven category. People often reach for a brand only when the symptom appears, so memory at that moment decides the sale. Himanshu Arora, Co-Founder of Social Panga, describes the opportunity as making “the brand top of mind when that need arises.”

Vikas Bansi, Director–Healthcare Business (Pharma & OTC) at Himalaya Wellness, adds that the team wanted to use the insight of unwanted attention to position Koflet as an “all-round solution for cough relief.” Honey and herbs power both formats, but each gets a different job.

Archana Sudarsan, Senior Creative Director at Social Panga, says the idea came from a simple observation: when you cough, it really does feel like everyone is suddenly looking at you. The creative stays lean and lets that observation do the work.

03 · What brand leaders can take from it

  • Find the social cost, not just the symptom. Cough is physical, but the film mines the social discomfort that comes with it.
  • Give every SKU a role. Lozenges own on-the-go relief; syrup owns care at home.
  • Let a memorable line carry the insight. The rhyming Hinglish question makes the message feel conversational and recallable.

The work itself is a lesson in category entry points. Instead of running a generic cough-relief claim, the campaign creates two everyday triggers—outside the home and inside it—both connected by a single unwanted-attention angle. That gives consumers a faster route to choosing the right Koflet format.

For India’s OTC and healthcare marketers, the next step is to audit whether each format has a distinct memory cue. If two products share the same vague promise, the range becomes harder to shop and harder to remember.
