Skoda Fan Fest turns a heist into an advocacy pitch
Skoda Auto India and BBH India put existing fans at the centre of the festive Fan Fest film, turning ownership benefits into a heist story.

Škoda Auto India and BBH India have rolled out the latest edition of Škoda Fan Fest, a festive-season campaign that pairs customer offers with the advocacy of existing Škoda owners. The work builds on Fans, Not Owners, the brand platform Škoda Auto India introduced in 2025 to spotlight the emotional connection owners develop with the marque.
The timing is strategic. Festive advertising in India tends to be crowded with price-led offers, exchange bonuses and finance schemes. Škoda is taking a different route: it is letting its owners carry the message.
01 · A getaway that becomes a conversion
The campaign film starts in an unexpected place. A Škoda owner finds himself in the middle of a getaway with two robbers. What should be a tense escape changes tone when the conversation turns toward the car. As the chase unfolds, the robbers discover Škoda SuperCare, its ownership benefits, the brand’s safety credentials and its extensive service network. The two robbers slowly turn into potential Škoda fans.
That shift is the creative idea. The film does not stage a product demonstration; it lets the car become part of a story, with the owner’s conviction doing the selling. The comedy comes from the robbers being distracted by the very vehicle they are escaping in.
02 · Why advocacy is the message
Ashish Gupta, Brand Director, Škoda Auto India, framed the campaign around a community of “not owners, but genuine fans and strong advocates of the brand.” Rather than telling people about the Škoda experience, the brand wants them to discover it through the people who know it best.
Parikshit Bhattaccharya, Chief Creative Officer, BBH India and Propagate India, added that the humour comes from a shift in priorities. “When people genuinely love something, they find a reason to talk about it,” he said. The getaway becomes a conversation about the car, and the product turns into a story beat rather than a demonstration.
For marketers, this is a useful reframe. Instead of beginning with “what should the brand say about the product,” the brief starts with “what would a passionate owner naturally say?” The answer becomes the script.
03 · What to take from Fan Fest
- Put existing customers at the centre of the narrative, not just at the end as a testimonial.
- Fold ownership benefits such as SuperCare, safety and service into story moments that characters discover.
- Use humour to lower the resistance that usually accompanies a festive sales message.
The campaign is currently live across television and digital, with print and outdoor extensions planned through the festive season. The media layering follows the same logic as the creative idea: the more places a fan story appears, the more it works like a recommendation heard in real life.
The larger takeaway for brand leaders is that fandom is a strategic asset. When a customer base actively recommends a product, the most effective advertising may be to give them a story worth retelling.
