Coca-Cola India and Hockey India Join Forces to Empower Women in Hockey

COCA-COLA

As part of its ongoing commitment to women’s empowerment, Coca-Cola India, through its foundation Anandana, has launched a powerful collaboration with Hockey India under the umbrella of the #SheTheDifference campaign. This inspiring initiative celebrates, supports, and uplifts women across Coca-Cola’s value chain.

The goal? To nurture and empower the next generation of women hockey players in India, ensuring they receive the support and tools they need to thrive—on and off the field.

Elite Coaching for World-Class Training

A core focus of this partnership lies in strengthening coaching excellence. The initiative supports professional development for coaches of the Indian senior women’s hockey team. With enhanced mentorship, players gain access to top-tier guidance, preparing them for both national and international competitions.

By investing in elite coaching, the program ensures every athlete—from grassroots to elite—benefits from structured, high-impact training that builds competitive skillsets and boosts game performance.

Skill-Focused Coaching for Winning Strategies

Recognizing the importance of specialized techniques, the initiative also offers targeted training in critical skills like drag flicking and goalkeeping. These game-changing elements often decide the outcome of competitive matches. Through focused coaching, women players are mastering these crucial techniques, giving them a competitive edge on the global stage.

This hands-on, skills-first approach not only improves player performance but also enhances team strategies for high-stakes matches.

Prioritizing Mental Resilience and Wellbeing with Coca-Cola

In a bold move to address an often-overlooked aspect of sports, the collaboration emphasizes mental wellbeing and sports psychology. During the FIH Hockey Olympic Qualifier Ranchi 2024 (Women), renowned psychologist Peter Haberl—known for mentoring Olympic medalists—led sessions focused on emotional strength, confidence-building, and team synergy.

This mental training equips players to handle pressure, stay focused, and excel in challenging situations, ensuring a well-rounded, high-performing team.

National Training Camps Across India

The program has also introduced intensive training camps in key cities including Kolkata, Bhopal, Bengaluru, Lucknow, Pune, Sonipat, and Kadapa. These camps foster team-building, game readiness, and regional development, bringing players from across the country together.

Participants benefit from full boarding and accommodation support, allowing them to focus solely on their growth and performance—especially while preparing for prestigious tournaments like the National Women’s Hockey League.

Building a Pathway for Future Stars

This initiative offers a clear development pathway for young female players, giving them the chance to compete against seasoned athletes, gain experience, and work toward representing India at the highest level. It marks a pivotal moment in reshaping the future of women’s hockey in India.

Hockey India President, Dilip Tirkey, comments, “This partnership is instrumental in elevating women’s hockey in India. Together with Coca-Cola India, we’re setting a new standard and creating transformative opportunities for young athletes.”

With this impactful collaboration, Coca-Cola India and Hockey India are rewriting the playbook for women in sports—empowering talent, promoting inclusivity, and making #SheTheDifference a powerful movement in Indian hockey.Coca-Cola Hockey India
