Bata India elevates Jasleen Kaur G to Head of Marketing

Bata India has elevated Jasleen Kaur G to Head of Marketing, giving her the full brand mandate at the footwear retailer. Kaur announced the move on LinkedIn, and her profile shows she took charge in October 2026.

01 · A promotion built on portfolio experience

Kaur joined Bata India in October 2024 as Head of Category Marketing and PR. For nearly two years, she has led marketing and communication for labels including Bata, Hush Puppies, Weinbrenner, Scholl, Bubble Gummers, Nine West, Power, Floatz and North Star. In the new role, her remit widens to the company’s overall marketing function.

Her background spans more than 15 years across footwear, fashion, luxury retail, consumer electronics and lifestyle brands. Before Bata India, Kaur was Assistant Vice-President – Marketing and PR at Reliance Brands, where she looked after Hugo Boss, Mothercare and Hamleys in India. She spent over seven years at Benetton Group leading marketing, public relations and sustainability across India, Nepal, Sri Lanka and Myanmar, driving campaigns such as #UnitedByChange, #UnitedByHer and #UnitedByPlay. Earlier, she worked with Canon India, began with a journalism internship at The Hindu and founded Indiawood Global.

02 · Why this matters for a house of brands

Bata India runs a house of brands: separate labels aimed at different consumers, price points and distribution channels. The structure creates scale, but it can also blur identities. A central marketing leader has to preserve each label’s positioning while sharing customer insight, strategy and media learning across the portfolio.

Kaur’s trajectory from category marketing to the top marketing job fits that model. She already knows the portfolio from the inside, and she brings the premium retail and international experience Bata needs as it stretches from value-led labels to global fashion names.

03 · What marketing leaders should watch

  • Portfolio mapping: define each brand’s customer, price band and role before centralising campaigns.
  • Distinct brand codes: let premium labels stay premium and value labels stay value-led.
  • Sustainability as brand strategy: weave it into campaigns rather than treating it as a separate track.

The immediate test is whether Bata’s brands become more coherent behind the scenes without becoming homogeneous to shoppers. If Kaur can manage that tension, the marketing bench at Bata India gets a clear portfolio playbook.
