HUL Puts 60% of Premium-Brand Media on Digital, Scales 30K-Creator Ecosystem

~ Hindustan Unilever rewires brand building around creators, AI studios and social listening — scaling influencers from four a month to 600, with more than 60% of media now digital ~

Mumbai, September 2026: Hindustan Unilever (HUL) is shifting its brand-building engine from mass-reach default to a social-first demand system. At Capital Markets Day 2026, the company outlined a playbook built on creators, AI-enabled content studios, social listening and real-time media optimisation — and put hard numbers on the pivot.

The creator programme is the clearest signal. HUL says its influencer roster has jumped from four influencers per month in 2024 to 600 influencers per month in 2026, spanning 100% of its brands in a multi-brand, advocacy-led model. India, the company notes, already supports a 30,000-strong creator ecosystem — fuel HUL intends to plug into rather than treat as a side channel.

Media money is moving with it. More than 60% of HUL’s media spend is now digital, with premium brands getting 2X the investment of non-premium lines. The same presentation stacks consumer intelligence behind the ads: 26,000+ hours of deep research, AI foresighting and a social-listening engine framed as “consumer obsession.” Category playbooks (bodywash is the example) combine 2X media, sampling at scale and 1.5X distribution. HUL also wants a 10% lift in media effectiveness via AI content, real-time optimisation and a proprietary deployment tool.

For a house with ₹63,763 crore annual turnover, 21 thousand-crore brands and reach into 90%+ of Indian households, this is not a social experiment — it is HUL treating creators and conversational demand as core infrastructure, not campaign garnish.
