Bengaluru, September 2026: Flipkart is doubling down on the long-form celebrity mashup for its upcoming Big Billion Days Sale. Unlike last year’s shorter cut, the new film — made by Leo — runs nearly five minutes, stitching micro-scenarios into one coherent ad about a guy stuck in a 24-hour loop who transforms his life again and again with a bit of help from the sale.

The cast is a deliberate bhelpuri of stars and creators: Rohit Sharma, Jackie Shroff, Aditya Srivastava (CID’s senior inspector Abhijeet), Samay Raina, Geni Kamki, Agu Stanley Chiedozie, and others. Leo’s approach is by design — the same scenarios are also cut as standalone social edits, so the long film feeds short-form distribution rather than fighting it.

Leo’s chief creative officer Sachin Kamble told afaqs!: “People think adding celebrities makes the job easy. But add a lot of them, and it becomes very hard. Every star has to have a meaningful part, and you can’t write jokes around them unless you know their personality. We spent nearly three months just writing, revising, and aligning with Flipkart and the celebrities’ schedules before we could shoot.”

The strategy continues last year’s Leo BBD playbook, which packed Amitabh Bachchan, Alia Bhatt, Mahesh Bhatt, Sreeleela, Farah Khan, celebrity chef Dilip, boAt’s Aman Gupta, and more into a celeb mashup. At a time of shrinking attention spans, a nearly five-minute sale film is a risk — the same long-form bet Dream11 took on its IPL 2025 spot — but Flipkart and Leo are betting the loop format and social cutdowns make the length pay off.

Marketing take: Flipkart isn’t shrinking the festive film — it’s stretching it and slicing it. The five-minute loop is the mothership; the social edits are the distribution engine.
