Mumbai, September 2026: Balaji Telefilms has partnered with YouTube to launch five original shows spanning 200 episodes as digital-first, 4K productions aimed at living-room screens — a bet that appointment television’s audience will still binge long-form fiction, just on YouTube’s terms.

Confirmed titles in the slate include returning franchises Haq Se Season 2 and Kehne Ko Humsafar Hai Season 4, plus Phir Pyar Ki Yeh Kahani Suno, with more projects still in development. Episodes will roll out through the festive season on the @TheIndianKDrramas channel, with trailers and behind-the-scenes drops feeding the same funnel.

Under the deal, Ekta Kapoor, joint MD of Balaji Telefilms, leads creative vision and retains intellectual property. YouTube handles global distribution and monetisation through advertising and brand deals a studio-platform split that keeps Balajis catalogue owned while YouTube sells the reach, including Connected TV.

Kapoor said: Every story begins with a feeling, one that has the power to touch hearts, spark memories, and bring people together As more and more viewers turn to YouTube to discover and engage with content, it presents an exciting opportunity to connect with audiences in the most innovative ways. Through this partnership with YouTube India, we’re opening a new chapter to share stories that entertain, inspire, and truly move people across the globe.”

Gunjan Soni, managing director India, YouTube, framed the pitch around hybrid living-room habits: The future of TV has to be designed around a digital-first audience that wants the best of both worlds: high-quality shows on the biggest screen in the home, with the flexibility of on-demand. With Ekta Kapoor and her extraordinary instinct for human emotion and creative storytelling, were making that future possible today on YouTube.”

For India’s media market, the signal is clear: premium scripted IP is no longer only an OTT exclusive or a linear daily. YouTube wants the soap-and-series muscle that built Indian television — and Balaji wants a distribution pipe that already sits on the biggest screen in the house.
