~ Netflix puts Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and more under one homepage hub — Southverse as it pledges a new southern title every week through 2026 ~
Mumbai, September 2026: Netflix has launched Into the Southverse (also called Southverse), a dedicated collection page for members in India that gathers films and series from southern India in one place organised by language, genre, star and mood rather than forcing viewers to hunt title by title.
The hub sits on the Netflix homepage and via search. It mixes theatrical hits such as Peddi, Blast, Amaran, Maharaja, Court: State vs A Nobody and Lucky Bhaskar with Netflix Originals including Pyaar Prema Kalyanam, Made in Korea and Super Subbu. Upcoming titles flagged for the collection include romantic-comedy series #Love and Legacy.
The product move rides a clear demand curve. Netflix says at least one southern India film featured on its India Top 10 Films list every week in 2025. Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam titles appeared on the Global Top 10 Non-English Films list in 39 of 52 weeks that year, and southern titles reached Top 10 lists across 59 countries outside India. Made in Korea was the first southern India title to hit No. 1 on that global Non-English list; Super Subbu is Netflix’s first Telugu Original series.
Southverse also mirrors Netflix’s wider content bet: members can expect an average of one new title every week from across southern India for the rest of 2026 — a mix of post-theatrical releases and Originals. The company frames the hub as an extension of existing discovery tools (alongside collections such as Watch Your Favorite Books), turning a fast-growing regional catalogue into a visible destination instead of a search chore.
For Indias streaming wars, that is a marketing message as much as a UI tweak: when southern cinema already travels globally, the next fight is ownership of the shelf — and Netflix wants the shelf to say Southverse.
