Tata Mutual Fund turns SIP consistency into a cinema story

01 · A rainy-day story sells investing discipline

Tata Mutual Fund has taken its investor-education message to the big screen this Diwali with a new film under its ongoing “SIP se Units Jodo. Badhte Raho.” campaign. Created by Vitamin Content Company, the film will run across 325 cinema screens and be amplified with regional-language edits on Tata Mutual Fund’s digital and social channels.

The creative moves past the usual pitch to begin an SIP. It focuses on the less visible habit of continuing one when markets turn choppy.

02 · The toy-car metaphor

The film follows a young boy who regularly walks an elderly woman’s dog. Each time, she gives him a toy car. Over time, the collection grows. On a day of heavy rain, the easy choice would be to stay home, but the boy turns up and keeps the routine.

The growing toy-car collection becomes a visual stand-in for how SIPs accumulate mutual fund units. When the NAV falls, the same instalment buys more units; long-term value comes from both how many units an investor holds and the NAV at which they eventually redeem.

03 · Why the campaign works for brand leaders

Tata Asset Management’s leadership is framing this as a message of consistency. CEO & MD Anand Vardarajan said, “Markets will have their ups and downs, but investors can choose to stay consistent with their SIPs.” CMO Ashish Pawar added that a warm, simple story can make an investing idea more relatable than charts and market data.

For marketing teams, the reasoning matters as much as the execution. The brand is selling behaviour, not returns. It pairs an emotional, cinema-friendly story with practical distribution choices: festive cinema audiences, short-format edits and regional-language versions that extend the same idea across India.

04 · What to borrow

  • Use a tangible, everyday object as your metaphor; the toy cars make accumulation visible.
  • Put the difficult behaviour at the centre; continuing is a subtler, stickier message than starting.
  • Match the medium to the message; cinema adds scale and warmth, while regional social edits make it shareable.

The marketing take: show investors the habit, not the numbers, and the brand becomes the memory.
