ABSLI’s 60-second film makes sales calls transparent

ABSLI's Truecaller-backed campaign shows brand name, logo and call reason before customers answer, with a Puneet Issar film to make it memorable.

ABSLI shows the reason before the ring

Aditya Birla Sun Life Insurance (ABSLI) is trying to solve one of the oldest problems in outbound marketing: a brand’s call can look as risky as an unknown number.

The insurer has launched a campaign, ‘When We Reach Out, You’ll Know Why’, built on Truecaller for Business. Its 1600-series outbound calling service now shows the ABSLI brand name and logo, along with the purpose of the call, before a customer decides to pick up.

01 · What the campaign actually changes

Usually, the customer’s first decision is not what to buy, but whether to answer. The campaign stacks two features, Truecaller’s Verified Caller Identity and Call Reason, to make that first decision easier. Customers are not told to trust the caller; they can see who is calling and why.

02 · Why this matters now

Consumer caution around unknown and unsolicited calls has climbed. For financial services, where outbound calling is a core part of the sales engine, that caution is expensive. ABSLI is treating transparency as a strategic advantage: a known brand, a visible logo and a stated reason can lower the resistance to a conversation before it begins.

03 · A light film for a rational feature

The 60-second launch film uses humour to make the point. A young couple parks in a space reserved for senior citizens, assuming the rightful owner is unlikely to challenge them. Their confidence evaporates when the person arrives: Puneet Issar, known for playing Duryodhan in Mahabharat. The twist lands the thought, “Before you take a call, know what you are getting into.”

04 · What brand leaders can borrow

  • Verify outbound numbers with Truecaller for Business so customers see a recognisable identity.
  • State the call reason on the pre-answer screen, not just after the prospect enquires.
  • Turn a rational trust feature into a short, relatable story instead of a feature list.

The campaign also signals that the incoming call screen is a branding surface. A verified identity and a clear reason become a relevance promise, not a compliance detail. When a call can explain itself before it is answered, the brand has effectively earned the first five seconds of attention.

Insurance brands spend heavily to convince people they are reliable, then risk that perception with an anonymous-looking outbound call. ABSLI’s move connects brand equity to the moment of contact. The same logic applies beyond insurance: any brand running telesales, service reminders or call-centre outreach can make the call screen work for the brand instead of against it.
