JSW Dulux sells premium paint as luxury design

JSW Dulux has given its flagship premium paint line, Dulux Velvet Touch Eterna, a campaign that treats paint less as a coating and more as a luxury design material. The twin-film creative, built on the brand promise “A Stroke Unmatched,” takes viewers through grand interiors and dreamlike settings before landing back on the product’s rich sheen finish and lasting vibrancy.

The films premiered on October 6, 2026, during the India vs West Indies T20 match on Star Sports HD and JioHotstar. Over the next six weeks, the campaign will roll out nationally across television and digital, with adaptations for general entertainment and news platforms.

01 · Paint as a design decision

The strategic move is to position Velvet Touch Eterna as an integral part of premium home décor, not a separate afterthought. In the films, architecture, furnishings, colours and visual detail work together to create sophisticated spaces rather than simply showing walls being painted. The finishing message is restrained luxury, supported by Eterna’s sheen and richness.

  • Positions paint as a core element of luxury interiors, not a functional add-on
  • Uses “A Stroke Unmatched” as an emotional brand promise instead of a technical claim
  • Premieres during live cricket for high reach before a six-week national rollout
  • Adapts the creative across TV, digital, GECs and news formats

02 · Why it matters for brand leaders

This is premiumisation at work for a category that is usually sold on durability, washability and price per litre. JSW Dulux is asking consumers to choose a finish the way they would choose furniture or lighting: for the way it shapes a room’s character. For CMOs in any functional category, that is a useful repositioning: move the product out of the features chart and into the lifestyle it helps create.

Rajiv Rajgopal, Joint Managing Director and CEO of JSW Dulux, said the goal has been to help consumers bring “aspirational homes” to life with individuality and a distinct sense of style. CMO Vandana Krishnia added that the idea was to create something “as elevated and distinctive as the product itself.”

03 · The media logic

Launching a premium décor film during an India-West Indies T20 may look like an odd fit, but it follows a clear logic. Live cricket offers a rare simultaneous audience across demographics, giving the campaign a high-reach launch before it moves into longer-form brand building on entertainment and news channels. The six-week, multi-format plan suggests the team is treating the spot as a brand platform, not a one-off splash.

For teams planning a similar launch, the template is simple: anchor the emotional idea in a single promise, show the world the product belongs in rather than listing what it does, and use one big live moment to earn attention before the broader rollout.
