CaratLane takes 7,500 designs to everyday milestones

CaratLane is recasting the diamond narrative. The Tata Group-backed omnichannel jeweller has launched a new brand film, Heera Kehta Hai, with actor and brand ambassador Yami Gautam Dhar, and the message is deliberately unglamorous in the traditional sense: fine jewellery belongs around life’s personal milestones, not only at formal occasions.

01 · From formal glamour to everyday wear

The film draws a line between the wearer and the stone, positioning a diamond as something that comes alive through the woman who wears it. It is a clear departure from occasion-led luxury advertising, where diamonds show up at weddings, galas or gifting moments. Instead, CaratLane is placing natural diamond jewellery in the rhythm of everyday achievement and self-expression.

Managing director Saumen Bhaumik frames it as “the symbiotic relationship where jewellery truly comes alive through the woman who wears it.” The brand is using its film to celebrate eighteen years, but the strategic signal goes beyond an anniversary.

02 · The product and retail engine behind the film

Alongside the film, CaratLane has moved to FG-colour diamonds across its full portfolio. It has introduced nine festive collections, taking additions to 7,500 designs this year. On distribution, the network now crosses 400 stores, coupled with the ongoing Global 2.0 international expansion.

Digital has not been left behind: the brand introduced an updated website, an international app, and a dedicated platform for its silver jewellery brand Shaya. It also ran a registered official World Record initiative, adding a visibility layer to the campaign period.

  • Brand film: Heera Kehta Hai, starring Yami Gautam Dhar, pushes milestone-based diamond wear.
  • Product shift: FG-colour diamonds across the collection, plus nine festive lines and 7,500 designs this year.
  • Retail scale: 400+ stores, Global 2.0 expansion, updated website, international app and Shaya platform.

03 · Why it matters for Indian jewellery marketers

For CMOs, the move reframes a category that has historically leaned on weddings and inherited value. CaratLane’s shift toward personal milestones is a segmentation play: it opens up self-purchase occasions, women buying for themselves, and lower-ticket moments between life’s big events.

The FG-colour shift is also a pricing and accessibility signal. By moving away from top colour grades, the brand can make fine jewellery more attainable without changing its “natural diamond” promise. That is a classic repositioning toolkit: keep the emotional territory, adjust the product economics.

What to watch is whether the brand’s digital and store expansion converts this campaign into purchase frequency. The test is whether “milestone” becomes a repeatable occasion and not just a creative line.

The marketing take: Diamond marketing is shifting from the occasion to the wearer; brands that build repeatable personal moments will own the next cycle.
