~ Flipkart and McCann India launch ‘Are You Really Gen Z?’ — a humour-led culture test and three-step CAPTCHA microsite that unlocks exclusive Big Billion Days fashion and beauty offers. ~
Bengaluru, September 2026: Flipkart, in partnership with McCann India, has rolled ‘Are You Really Gen Z?’ as a lead creative for its annual shopping festival, Big Billion Days (BBD). The humour-driven film and microsite turn access to Flipkart’s latest Gen Z fashion and beauty trends into a culture test — gatekeeping the drop from anyone cashing in on the label without earning it.
The idea leans on a familiar irritation: Gen Z’s discomfort when slang, memes and cultural cues get overused by brands and outsiders. Where marketers have leaned on words like rizz, cooked and no cap to sound relatable, the film flips that fatigue into the punchline — everyday moments where forced Gen Z speak meets visible cringe from the real cohort watching it unfold.
Viewers are then pointed to AreYouReallyGenZ.com, a microsite that reimagines the CAPTCHA format as a fluency test across culture, fashion, beauty and internet behaviour. Clear all three rounds and exclusive BBD offers on fashion and beauty unlock. The campaign is live across digital and social and will run through the sale starting October 9, 2026.
Gagandeep Bindra and Rahul Arcot, Group Creative Directors, McCann India, said: “In a world where everyone’s trying to talk, dress and breathe like Gen Z, we wanted to give the actual Gen Zs something only they can experience. So we built AreYouReallyGenZ.com, a place with curated, flex-worthy pieces from fashion and beauty. Protected by some seriously tough Gen Z-inspired Captchas. Would it be enough to keep Gen Z copycats out? We took the test, it did.”
Marketing take: Most festive sale films sell the deal. Flipkart is selling belonging — and making shoppers prove it. Turning identity into a gatekeeper is a sharp way to make BBD fashion feel exclusive without raising prices; the risk is whether the CAPTCHA stays funny once millennials start clearing it too.
