Omnicom Media India tops RECMA 2026 agency ranking

Omnicom Media India has taken the top spot among India’s media agency groups in RECMA’s Network Diagnostics Report 2026. The independent research firm places the network ahead of every competing group in the country, and the result is not a one-market story: Omnicom Media also led Asia Pacific, North America, EMEA and LATAM, holding its position as the best-performing global media group for the second consecutive report.

01 · Depth, not a single flagship

The India ranking is built on breadth. Three of the six highest-ranked media agencies in the country—PHD, Initiative and OMD—belong to Omnicom Media, while Lodestar UM received a Good rating. PHD and OMD recorded the highest Vitality scores among the ranked agencies, and PHD led the market in year-on-year client portfolio growth.

In Asia Pacific, OMD held the top agency position and PHD took third; OMD also kept its leadership in Southeast Asia for the third consecutive diagnostics report, with a 10.2% qualitative share in the region.

02 · What RECMA actually measures

The bi-annual diagnostics assess approximately 700 agencies across 45 markets on 19 KPIs. Unlike billings-only tables, the score weighs vitality and structure: client portfolio and relationship stability, digital, data and content resources, and consistency across geographies.

  • Activity volume / billings: around 30% industry share for Omnicom Media
  • Qualitative share: just under 35% in the diagnostic report
  • India agency depth: PHD, Initiative and OMD in the top six, Lodestar UM rated Good

RECMA’s own summary calls the network “emerging as the new industry powerhouse”.

03 · Wins are converting into momentum

The recognition follows a run of new business. In October 2026, Omnicom Media added The Coca-Cola Company in North America, Lidl across Europe, Lavazza and Lufthansa Group globally, The British Council and L’Oréal in the DACH region. Across 2026, retained and won accounts include Adidas, Aviva, CVS, Delta, Dyson, IBM, Novo Nordisk, Uber and Xiaomi. The network says its year-to-date billings from competitive pitches have crossed US$9 billion, higher than any other holding company.

India has contributed directly to that momentum, with recent wins including Netflix, AMFI, OpenAI, Adidas, Dr. Reddy’s, Xiaomi and Amazon Music.

04 · Why CMOs should look past the ranking

Rankings are easy to consume, but their value to a marketer depends on what they measure. RECMA’s focus on vitality and structure is a useful framework for agency reviews: it asks whether an agency can keep and grow client relationships, not just win headlines. For brand leaders, that means supplementing an agency’s pitch wins with questions about client tenure, portfolio stability and the depth of its data and digital resources.

“Our ambition is to help clients turn the growing complexity of the Indian media landscape into a competitive advantage,” said Kartik Sharma, CEO, Omnicom Media India.

RECMA also noted that Omnicom’s acquisition of IPG is feeding the diagnostics: “all of the group’s agencies are benefiting… particularly the integration of data and digital specialist units”. That is a signal for existing Omnicom clients to expect deeper connected capabilities, and for competitors to expect a more aggressive integrated pitch.
