Lenovo’s Idea Tab Pro Gen 2 Goes Broadway with Abhay Varma
Kinnect launches a Broadway-style musical campaign for Lenovo Idea Tab Pro Gen 2 with Abhay Varma, its first integrated mainline work for the brand.

Lenovo is betting that a tablet launch can feel less like a spec sheet and more like a song-and-dance number. The brand has roped in actor Abhay Varma for a new campaign around the Lenovo Idea Tab Pro Gen 2, created by Kinnect, part of Omnicom Advertising India.
Built on Lenovo’s ‘Damn the Odds’ platform, the film uses a Broadway-inspired musical narrative to show the device fitting into the lives of students, professionals and hybrid workers. The campaign is already running across retail channels and will air on television.
01 · From visibility to distinctiveness
The work matters for two reasons. For Lenovo, it is an attempt to build brand distinctiveness as the tablet category grows, not just to launch another model. For Kinnect, it is the agency’s first integrated mainline campaign for the brand, spanning creative development, production and offline rollout.
Tablet advertising in India has often leaned on screen size, battery life and processor talk. By choosing a musical, the campaign swaps feature lists for an emotional wrapper. It is a play for mental availability: the more distinctive and consistent a brand’s creative assets, the more likely they are to be retrieved at the moment of choice. Kinnect & 22feet CEO Chandni Shah said the assignment was to move past conventional technology advertising: not simply to stand out but to build stronger brand distinctiveness in an increasingly competitive market, and to create “a fresh, memorable expression of the brand for a new generation of consumers.”
02 · What the musical route offers
A celebrity in tech advertising is common; a Broadway treatment is not. That choice gives the Idea Tab Pro Gen 2 a distinctive creative asset that can build memory when a buyer is ready to choose.
- Anchor the celebrity and the format to an umbrella platform – here ‘Damn the Odds’ – so each execution compounds brand memory.
- Keep the benefit visible inside the entertainment: sequences map to users and tasks, not just a famous face.
- Treat an integrated mainline campaign as a relationship signal: Kinnect is now executing across creation, production, retail and TV.
03 · The risk to watch
Entertainment-led advertising only pays out if the product stays the hero. If viewers remember the tune and not the tablet, the distinctiveness was borrowed, not built. The real test is whether the campaign makes the Idea Tab Pro Gen 2’s utility as memorable as its Broadway wrapper.
The marketing take: entertainment earns attention, but a platform earns memory.
