~ A 3D sphere, a King Khan teaser, and a clear signal that Vi wants to be read as more than a telecom brand ~
Mumbai, September 2026: Vodafone Idea has refreshed its brand identity and put Bollywood star Shah Rukh Khan at the centre of a teaser campaign built around the line “Vi badal raha hai… tayaar rahiye”. The move, rolled out from 1 September, is being framed not as a cosmetic logo tweak but as the first public marker of a wider repositioning the operator says will unfold over the coming weeks.
At the heart of the visual refresh is Vi’s familiar yellow particle, now evolved into a rounded, three-dimensional sphere and shifted to the top of the wordmark. The company describes the new form as rounder and more dynamic, meant to retain recognition while signalling energy and forward motion across apps, retail, digital platforms and communications.
Not just a logo
Abhijit Kishore, CEO, Vi, has been emphatic that the identity change is only the opening beat. “This is not simply a logo refresh; it is the first expression of the evolution we are bringing to the Vi Brand. It reflects our ambition for Vi and commitment to shaping what telecom can be – an experience that makes life more rewarding, and full of possibilities for our customers,” he said in the company’s statement.
Kishore linked the new look to a longer runway of product and experience work still under wraps: “Over the coming weeks, this evolution will come alive with strategic launches, new campaigns and a range of experiences that will shape how we engage with our customers. The new identity captures optimism—an optimism for everything that is possible today, more importantly for what we can bring to both; our retail customers and enterprises in the future as a tech company.”
That last phrase matters for marketers watching the category. Vi is openly pitching itself as a tech company with connectivity as the backbone, rather than a pure-play telco fighting only on tariffs and coverage. The company has not yet disclosed the specific services, financial outlay or timelines behind the next phase—an omission that keeps the current film firmly in teaser territory.
Why Shah Rukh Khan
Bringing SRK into the frame is classic Indian brand theatre: mass salience, optimism and cultural heat in one casting call. Vi’s own commentary casts the association as symbolic. “Shah Rukh Khan coming on board is symbolism of the energy, ambition and optimism that Vi is bringing to its new phase. The reveal is deliberately a teaser—getting customers excited for what is coming, while inviting them to wait and watch for what Vi has in store,” the company said.
For advertising watchers, the line “Vi badal raha hai… tayaar rahiye” does dual work. It acknowledges that the brand needs to feel different after years of balance-sheet stress and subscriber pressure, while asking audiences to stay tuned for substance beyond the sphere. In a three-player mobile market where network perception and brand warmth often move together, a high-wattage face can buy attention; only the forthcoming launches will show whether the attention converts into consideration.
The rollout itself is progressive rather than overnight—consumer touchpoints, digital surfaces, retail presence and communications will pick up the new identity in phases from early September. That staggered approach is pragmatic for a national operator, but it also means the rebrand will live in the wild for weeks before the “strategic launches” Kishore flagged fully arrive.
In short: Vi has changed how it looks and who speaks for it. The harder marketing test—what customers are being asked to get ready for—is still to come.
